Comunidades say no to regularisation

PANJIM: The Association of Components of Comunidades has objected to people seeking to regularise illegal structures raised on land set aside for agricultural purposes and reserved as cattle grazing grounds.

The association has requested the Chief Minister to take steps to stop encroachments of illegal structures, especially by people without authorized documents on land and  farmers’ rights.
They further requested the government to ensure that the People’s Act 1951 is observed wherein farmers’ rights have been duly considered.
The government must ensure that such land earmarked for cattle grazing and agricultural purposes is not ‘eaten’ up for this purpose, a statement from the association says. The people’s sentiments in this regard must be safeguarded.
