Concerns raised about ore transport

Ponda: Against the backdrop of the ongoing lockdown, locals from the mining belt were surprised and even worried to see trucks engaged in the transportation of ore through the Usgao-Pali route. 

Concerns were raised about the status of the drivers, if they had been tested for COVID-19 and the possible spread through the village if the drivers came in contact with any of the locals for va-rious works. Locals also raised questions about permissions granted for the aforesaid work.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that a large number of truck drivers who were earlier left jobless were asked by a mining company to engage their trucks for work starting from Thursday. 

This came as good news for them as they have been hoping for the resumption of mining business in Goa.
