Conference discusses information security

VASCO: Around 500 delegates from industries and government agencies deliberated on measures to prevent hacking of computers by antisocial elements to destroy valuable information, at the 5th two-day national conference on Information Security in Bogmalo. 
The objective of the conference, organized by Nlucon, was to discuss and showcase the future of information security and the next generation of offensive and defensive security technology. 
“The Goa government should impart knowledge or appoint experts in various government organisations to tackle a rise in cyber crimes and to protect the valuable information stored in computers and control systems,” said Nlucon founder Aseem Jakhar, while speaking to Herald along the sidelines of the conference.
Around 10 foreign delegates from the US, Germany, Portugal, France and South America delivered lectures the how to protect information and systems of major industries, which include oil and gas companies, transportation and other important government organisations.
Michael Eddignton, chief technical officer of Deja Vu Security from US delivered a talk on application of security, network security, threat modelling and fuzz testing, while Justin Searle, managing partner of UtiliSecm which is specialised in smart grid security, spoke on how to take care of the control system and avoid hacking by antisocial elements. Searle also spoke on hacking techniques, forensic, networking and intrusion detection.
Speaking to Herald, Antriksh Shah, co-founder of Nlucon, stated that the conference assumes significance in the light of the security threat to the nation on the information front. 
“The threat has to be tackled defensively as well as offensively and the participants will debate and ideate the road forward on the information security of the nation, said Shah.
