MARGAO: The Congress on Thursday accused the BJP-led government of continuing with the policy decisions pertaining to education taken by the erstwhile government headed by Digambar Kamat.

“This is the success story of the Digambar Kamat regime,” said Congress leader M K Shaikh and added that former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat took all his policy decisions in consultation with experts from various fields.
“Today, BJP has continued with its policy decision on Medium of Instruction. Former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar should reveal what happened to the report of the MoI Committee headed by Prof Bhaskar Naik, which was constituted during his tenure. Why the report is shelved by BJP”, Shaikh asked.
The Congress said the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs had clearly stated that schools and colleges should not be reopened during the current lockdown in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
“The BJP government, which is famous for “midnight drama”, managed to get a NOC from the Central Government at midnight to hold the SSC examination and submitted the same before the High Court,” the Congress leader alleged.
“It is most unfortunate that the “Goa Vision-2035″ document prepared by the committee headed by eminent scientist Dr Raghunath Mashelkar is shelved by the BJP government after coming to power just because the said committee was formed by Digambar Kamat. Today, if the said report was implemented by the BJP, Goa would have not faced the present economic and financial crises” Shaikh said.
Shaikh’s statements follow after the BJP flayed Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat for criticising the government for going ahead with the SSC exams.
