VASCO: Congress and BJP supporters were booked for holding rallies in violation of model code of conduct and prohibitory order at Headland Sada, on Saturday evening.
According to Mormugao police, BJP and Congress supporters from Mormugao constituency held two separate rallies after the polling got over on Saturday evening. Police said that both the groups also clashed against each other in which a Congress worker was assaulted by the BJP workers and in retaliation Congress supporters assaulted BJP supporter on Saturday evening, which led to tense situation in Headland-Sada.
Mormugao police have registered two separate offences against BJP and Congress supporters for forming an unlawful assembly and also hurting a worker, following a clash.
“Besides our case, the officials have issued show cause notices to the leaders of both the groups asking why action should not be taken up against them for holding rally and for unlawful assembly,” police told.
