PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Thursday felicitated former chief minister Pratapsing Rane and former Union minister Edwardo Faleiro on the occasion of Congress Foundation Day.
“Education is as essential as water and air. We cannot take the electorate for granted and the MLAs should not be under the wrong impression and take things lightly,” Rane said addressing the gathering after being felicitated.
Former Union minister Faleiro said he was hopeful that Congress would return to power.
“I urge NSUI, Congress Mahila workers, young and senior party leaders to work together as one,” he said.
Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro said condemned the Union Minister of State for Employment and Skill Development Anantkumar Hegde for calling for changing the Constitution and dropping secularism from its Preamble.
“Hegde spoke against the Church, religion and constitution and those who speak against the Constitution are anti-nationals,” said Faleiro
Calling upon the youth to over the Congress party, Navelim MLA clarified that “At the same time I don’t want Rane and Edurado Faleiro to retire from politics.”
Meanwhile, GPCC President Shantaram Naik condemning Hegde said that he should either sou motto resign as minister or that the Supreme Court of India, should take sou motto cognizance of his anti-constitutional statement and disqualify him.
