PANJIM: Even as Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is admitted to AIIMS for a follow up treatment, Congress has taken a pot shot at him for not handing over his charge to any senior minister in the Cabinet.
The party has also slammed the condition in which he attended the three-day assembly session this week.
“The Budget that CM presented in the House is a copy-paste (of previous Budget). There is no scheme, not direction. If he had to give the charge of Finance Minister to another (minister), we would have got a good Budget,” party spokesperson Ramakant Khalap told reporters on Saturday.
Aleixo Reginald Lourenco, who was the only Congress leader to attend the inauguration of the third Mandovi Bridge last week, said he has repeatedly advised CM to take rest.
“I told him at least five times to take rest when I met him in the assembly and during the third bridge’s inauguration. If he is sick, you (CM) should take care of your health and not be in the assembly. It doesn’t auger well in the legislative assembly that somebody is holding you,” he said in response to a media question on CM’s performance in the House.
“He should give the charge to somebody,” the congress legislator added.
Despite his ill-health, the CM had presented the State budget on Wednesday saying, “I am presenting the budget in josh. The josh that is too high, very high, and fully in hosh.”
Parrikar had attended all the three days of the session, and by evening on Thursday he flew to Delhi in a special flight for a follow up treatment at AIIMS.
The Congress has however alleged that CM was not willing to appoint a substitute as he has no trust in his colleagues.
