MAPUSA: The North Goa District Congress Committee staged protest against rising prices of fuel and essential commodities at Mapusa.

Holding placards the protestors hit out at the Modi government over the hike in prices of petrol and diesel and LPG domestic cylinders.
Goa Pradesh Congress Commiottee (GPCC) spokesman Amarnath Panjikar said that the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) governments both — at the Centre and in the State are not concerned about the increasing inflation but are only concerned about the upcoming Assembly elections.
Panjikar alleged that the BJP Yuva Morcha is organising tournaments and cultural competitions but are not raising voice over increasing inflation and rising prices of fuel which have broken the backbone of the common people. “We condemn increasing prices of fuel and LPG cylinders,” he said.
North Goa District Congress committee president Vijay Bhike said that the BJP government was expected to fulfill all the promises made to the people however they have failed on all fronts.
Former Calangute MLA Angelo Fernandes said, “It’s only the Congress government once coming back to power will resolve the issues concerning the common man. The continuous rising prices of fuel have affected the prices of essential commodities as a result the general public is affected.”
Fernandes demanded that the government should redcued the prices of fuel and LPG cylinder and provide relief to the people.
Mahila Congress leader Muktamala Fondvekar alleged that the BJP government has turned insensitive towards the common man and is least bothered about women, who are facing difficulties due to rising prices. The government is talking about women empowerment but we want to ask whether this government wants to see women living their lives while burning wood and cooking, she said.
