PANJIM: The Congress Party has decided to work out floor coordination with all the Opposition parties and MLAs to corner Dr Pramod Sawant-led government on the crucial issues, affecting the State, during the four-day long Winter Session, beginning from January 25.
Congress, Goa Forward Party, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, independent MLAs Rohan Khaunte and Prasad Gaonkar make for the Opposition benches on the Floor of the House.

The issues like financial position and mismanagement, Rs 100 crore relief package to marginal sector to cope up with pandemic crisis, Mhadei River water diversion, Mollem projects including double-tracking of railway line, deteriorating law and order situation would be raised during the session.
Speaking to the media persons, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said that he would hold a joint meeting with the leaders from GFP, MGP and independents to work out floor coordination for the upcoming session.
“We have been working in coordination since last one year. We will continue to put up a joint opposition effort to raise people’s issue and issues concerning State,” he said.
“My role as Leader of Opposition will be to ensure that all the Opposition is united on the serious issues concerning the State. We will jointly work out the strategies,” he added.
Kamat said that Opposition will press for pending demands of White Paper on State Financial position, Mhadei River water diversion issue and COVID-19 pandemic management, on the Floor of the House.
“Issues of environmental destruction that has forced people to come on road and also Rs 100 crore relief package, would be also raised in the House,” the former chief minister said.
The Winter Session of the State Assembly is scheduled from January 25-29. There will be public holiday on January 26 on occasion of Republic Day.
The session will commence with Goa Governor’s annual address on Day One, January 25.
Meanwhile, the All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) Minority Department on Monday dissolved all Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Minority Cells with immediate effect.
The move comes two months after GPCC Minority Cell Chairman Urfan Mulla resigned from the party citing ‘lack of unity’ among the Congress leaders and neglect towards issues faced by the minority communities. Mulla, had thereafter, joined BJP.
AICC Minority Department Chairman Nadeem Javed in a communication issued has announced to dissolve all State, District and Block Committees of GPCC, Minority Cell, with immediate effect.
“The process of formation of new committees will begin soon,” Javed said.
Meanwhile, the AICC Co-ordinator for Goa Minority Department Akash, will be on two-day visit to Goa on January 10-11 to finalise new committees.
Ahead of 2022 State Assembly Elections, the GPCC is working towards party reorganisation. A fresh membership drive has also commenced in the State.
