PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Friday resolved to fight the upcoming Zilla Parishad (ZP) election, due next year, on party lines.
For the first time in 2015, in Goa, ZP polls were held on party lines. BJP-Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and Goa Vikas Party contested the election on party symbol, while Congress had declined to do so.
The GPCC Executive Committee meeting held on Friday resolved to put in fray the candidates on party ticket.
Speaking to media persons post meeting, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said that party will have its official candidates, contesting on its symbol, the upcoming ZP polls.
The Executive Committee also unanimously decided to urge Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to seek Prime Minister’s intervention in ensuring that the “illegal” letter issued by Union Minister of Environment for Kalasa Bhanduri Project be withdrawn immediately.
