OLD GOA: Coming down heavily on the manifesto of the Congress, Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said the Congress was trying to fool the people by including issues which they have not delivered even when the UPA government was ruling at the Centre for the past seven years.
Speaking at a public meeting at Merces on Saturday, Parsekar said the three main issues of the Congress include special status for Goa, package for mining-affected people and solution to dual citizenship.
“For 10 years, the UPA was in power at the Centre and the then Congress government ruling in the State could not get special status. Legal mining along with illegal mining was stopped in Goa by Congress and the issue of Caitu’s nationality was also raked up by the Congress,” said Parsekar.
“Who is the Congress trying to fool when they themselves are the main masterminds behind these problems?”
“Congress is a party which only makes promises and never delivers,” said Parsekar and urged the people to vote for the BJP as it is a party which delivers what it has promised.
“From cutting down of VAT on petrol to introducing various schemes like Griha Aadhar, Laadli Laxmi, etc, the BJP has fulfilled nearly 80-85% of its promises made during the Assembly elections in the first two years of its rule itself,” Parsekar informed.
He added that all BJP-ruled States have successfully fulfilled their manifestos, due to which the people elect the party time and again.
Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza chided the secular credentials of Congress candidate Ravi Naik.
“He was behind the act of beating up a minority MLA, his wife and sons through the use of police force. Ravi Naik is known only to harass the minorities,” he added.
Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said Ravi Naik did not have the right to represent Goa in the Lok Sabha.
“Ravi Naik is not qualified to be MP as his disastrous performance as Home Minister in the Digambar Kamat government is well known to the public.”
Hitting out at his critics who say that he had done nothing during his three earlier stints as MP, Shripad Naik reminded his detractors that during his current stint he has completed over 700 projects.
“In a survey conducted by India Today, I rank 31 among the 545 MPs as far as utilisation of MPLAD funds is concerned,” said Shripad Naik.
He then hit out at his opponent, Ravi Naik, and said that the Mickky Pacheco committee report on drugs will bring to light the misdeeds of the Congress candidate.
“I requested Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar not to make the report public as of now, as people would say that it was deliberately done in run up to the elections,” Naik added.
