PANJIM: Congress welcomed and hailed the decision of the Supreme Court rejecting the BJP led government’s objection to review the Rafale case based on the leaked documents through media.
Congress spokespersonTrajano D’Mello said “This government, which talks of a corruption free governance is blocking the investigation against corruption by the highest judiciary of the country. Congress hails this decision as the decision saves the democracy and opens up a free and fair investigation.”
He further said that the decision has foiled the attempts of the BJP government to throttle the voice against the corruption wherein a review petition is going on. “The decision is an eye opener for every citizen of India to see how this government, in its subtle ways is trying to control all institutions”, he added.
Trajano further stated that the greatest part of the judgment is that it made clear that the freedom of the press was being curbed and the Supreme Court has stated very clearly that under the guise of the Official Secrets Act, the media cannot be stopped from reporting the documents which they obtained from their sources.
Slamming the Prime Minister, Trajano said “During his Goa rally, the Prime Minister did not even once mention about the judgment just because it went against his government.”
Congress also welcomed the decision of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ban the release of biopic of Narendra Modi starring Vivek Oberoi and other biopics. “Though we are struggling with the election office in Goa, ECI has stopped the Modi biopic, sending a clear message that this government is trying to block a level playing field,” he added.
