PANJIM: A day after AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal asked the people to take money from all political parties, the Congress demanded an apology from the Delhi Chief Minister for the insult he meted out to Goan voters by encouraging corrupt practices.
Addressing media persons, Congress spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said, “Kejriwal’s appeal to the people to take money from all political parties and vote for AAP is a clear case of inducing people to be corrupt. This is an insult to sensitive voters from Goa.”
“I appeal to the Election Commission to take suo moto action, failing which I will study the legal implications and will not hesitate to file a formal complaint,” he added.
Kejriwal, who addressed a string of rallies in Goa, had asked people to accept money if a Congress or BJP candidate offers but instead vote for AAP. He had said that if political parties offer Rs 5000, then the voters should ask for Rs 10,000 and that too in new notes.
D’Mello said Kejriwal has exposed his contempt for Goa, Goans and its culture and entity by ‘declaring that he would have a Delhi model government for Goa’.
“If AAP is voted to power, it is going to be a government where Goa’s tax-payers’ money will be diverted for advertisements in other states just as crores of rupees were spent on advertisements of Delhi’s tax-payers’ money in other states where the CAG has come down heavily,” he alleged.
He said that AAP’s claim of providing 50,000 jobs and arresting corrupt Congress leaders confirms and proves that the party is the ‘B’ team of the BJP as both issues were promised by the BJP in 2012.
