PANJIM: The opposition Congress party has flayed the government’s `Prashasan Tumchya Dari’ as yet another attempt to cover up the reality and brainwash the people ahead of ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) General Secretary Vijay Bhike urged the people to attend the so called ‘Prashasan darbar’, which starts from Friday, and seek answers from the Ministers to crucial questions and show the ‘darbar’ for water, is an election ‘Jumla Darbar’.

He said that the people of Goa need to know why the promises made by the BJP before elections such as free three LPG cylinders and pensioners’ medical insurance schemes, schemes for widows and many others have not been implemented by the Sawant government as per its election promises.
It also needs to be explained why under the BJP dispensation, prices of fuel and other essential commodities have skyrocketed. Why has no Minister or BJP government functionaries made statement whatsoever on the Mhadei River diversion that will turn the State from a water rich to a water-starved desert State. The people need answers and they need the answers now, he said.
Bhike also strongly condemned the financial excesses of the Sawant government in spending Rs 24.96 lakh taxpayers money on two-day training session for MLAs.
Stating that the State had reached its lowest point under this `Jumla government’ and urged Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte to visit the Bardez Deputy Collector’s office at Mapusa and experience first-hand the pain and trauma of the people struggling to get their work done.
Meanwhile, AICC Goa in-charge Manickam Tagore is arriving in the State on a two-day visit from Friday. On March 18, Tagore will hold a meeting with Political Affairs Committee (PAC) at 11 am at Congress House, Panjim and will also meet office-bearers. In the evening he will visit Ponda constituency and attend “Haath Se Haath Jodo” programme at 5 pm.
