MARGAO: The Velim gram sabha has resolved to direct the fisheries department to construct 50 toilets at the Cutbona Jetty. At present, there is only 13-seat Sulabh toilet which is not sufficient.
“There is no sanitation facility at Cutbona. We had asked the fisheries department to build 50 toilets but they are saying it will take another year. We asked them to put mobile toilets. We even gave them NOC. They are asking us to maintain it. Why should we maintain it when the fisheries department is running the jetty,” Sarpanch Savio Silva informed.
The gram sabha has decided to give permission to Indus Ind mobile tower. The sarpanch informed that there is one tower at the telephone exchange and another one near the lighthouse on Barade hill. The latter doesn’t have Panchayat permission. The Secretary informed that the temporary tower was installed during the BRICS summit in 2016 but has not been removed.
