MARGAO: Margao residents led by councillor Glenn Andrade on Wednesday stopped the construction of the second floor of a house in a conservation zone near the Holy Spirit Church.
Over 15 residents assembled near the Margao Municipal Council building to meet the chairperson and chief officer to complain regarding the above violation. Chairperson Pooja Naik directed the Junior Engineer Ajay to conduct inspection and stop work forthwith.
Later, the Chairperson along with the ward councillor personally conducted the inspection.
However, councillor Andrade has demanded the total demolition of the second floor.
The residents alleged that one person took advantage of the lockdown and started constructing the second floor.
