MARGAO: Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Saturday said the real tribute to selfless social worker late Narayan Pai Fondekar would be to continue his social work.
At the condolence meeting, he said, “Nana was a living institution and the young generation should take inspirations from his work. His contribution to Margao crematorium is irreplaceable”.

Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said, “Fondekar’s demise has created a big void in various institutions he was associated with. It is important that Nana’s work is carried forward and I commit my full support to those who come forward to shoulder the responsibility”.
MMC former chairperson Ajit Hegde recalled his long association with Nana and said that he had a close resemblance to the character of “Narayan” depicted in “Vyakti aani Valli” by noted Marathi writer P L Deshpande.
Mathgramastha Hindu Sabha president Pandurang alias Bhai Naik said, “A vacuum is created in Mathgramastha Hindu Sabha and three personas will be needed to take on the responsibility of Narayan Pai Fondekar.”
Prashant Ghodge of Solid Party Trust requested that a road near Pai Fondekar house in Comba be named after Fondekar. Dorris Teixeira, Narayan Mauzo, Umesh Kamat, Vaikunth Pai Fondekar, Damodar Shirodkar, Mahesh Damodar Naik, Anil Shirodkar, Shekhar Pai Fondekar and others paid homage to Fondekar.
