VASCO, MAY 4

The controversial hoarding that was erected in place of an eight-decade-old Ashoka tree near Vasco Railway station got a fresh lease of life for another one-and-half month, as the legal advisor of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) failed to turn up for the hearing.
The applicant has obtained a stay from the court against MMC chief officer’s order to remove the hoarding and revoke the license.
The applicant has claimed that since he has obtained all permissions from the council, he should be given an opportunity to present his side.
Council staff Anand Shatoshkar, who deals with legal issues of the council, informed that the hearing, which was fixed on May 3 in the civil court Vasco, was delayed for another one and half months since the legal advisor of the council failed to appear for the hearing.
