PONDA: Marcaim MLA and former PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Thursday urged the Governor and Chief Minister to urgently convene a five-day Assembly session in October to discuss the main issues concerning Goans.

The former minister said the main issues namely COVID-19, budget, Mhadei water diversion, Mollem projects and austerity measures could not be discussed due to the lockdown.
Requesting that the Assembly session be convened in October, he said each issue concerning the Goans should be discussed in detail.
He said COVID pandemic is spreading across Goa and the condition of the Goa Medical College (GMC) should also be discussed. He also demanded discussions on austerity measures, loans and bonds related to finance on account of State’s weak financial condition.
The MLA said the Central Government projects such as railway track doubling, Dudhsagar, power projects and NH widening at Anmod -Mollem and NH widening at Canacona, which will impact the State’s environment, should be discussed in Assembly along with the mining issue.
He said, “If a physical session is not possible then at least a virtual session should be held in October. If the issues concerning Goans are not discussed in Assembly, then the people of Goa will blame all 40 MLAs.”
He said, “Karnataka has been involved in the Mhadei River diversion work even during the lockdown and there is need for a discussion on the issue as it will lead to major water crisis in future.”
