PANJIM: A day after a native of Uttar Pradesh allegedly murdered his wife in Panjim on Thursday, police have still not been able to trace his whereabouts. Vishnu Umashankar Verma has been charged with murdering his wife Ruksar Pathan, a native of Karnataka. He was last seen with his 10-month-old son and has been on the run since then.
“We have alerted the check posts and our counterparts in the neighbouring States. We are looking out for the accused,” said an officer.
Neighbours said the accused was seen on Thursday morning moving out of the rented room with his infant son. Sources say, the accused, a labourer was living with his wife and son in St Inez for the past three months. The couple had returned to Goa from their hometown five days ago. Multiple injuries have been noticed on the body of deceased, including her neck and abdomen. A knife and a mobile phone were recoverred.
