PANJIM: The International Film Festival of India, slated to begin on November 20 will not have private security or bouncers at the entrance and exit gates, Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) Vice Chairman Vishnu Surya Wagh said at a press conference on Tuesday.
He said the organizers decided to discontinue the practice since last IFFI. “Goa Police will frisk the visitors to IFFI venues,” he said after a security review meeting with the security and traffic Cells of Goa Police.
Certain guests had opposed deployment of private guards owing to their rude behaviour with a couple of Bollywood celebrities who were even manhandled by them in the past.
The Police Department has finalized locations for installing CCTVs across the festival venues and chalked out other security measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
The ESG has meanwhile formed a three-member committee comprising Shiva Naik, Shantaram Kundaikar and Information and Publicity Director Swapnil Naik, to select the movies produced by Goans for its screening during the festival.
“The local filmmakers are asked to submit their applications which will be scrutinized and subsequently a grade-wise selection would be done…These movies will be screened in a separate section dedicated to Konkani films at the festival.
Each of the selected movies will be given slots,” Wagh informed.
He also said that the movies which were screened during the previous IFFI events will not be repeated this year.
