Police found the inter-state truck (AP-16-TY-4593) stationed across NH road at Gulem on Saturday night. Police said the truck driver cum owner was reportedly absconding and police are on his look out.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Ketan Tolu Velip were cremated at his native village in Nuem-Vaizawada, Shristhal, on Sunday evening. Canacona MLA and Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar was among others who attended the last rites of the irrigation department engineer working at Sanguem.
The police have sent out information of the truck driver to all border check posts. The police have also put in place measures to check if the truck driver arrives at his hometown in the next few days. After the accident the driver had fled with the vehicle without providing first aid to the engineer or informing the police.
Further investigations in the case are ongoing.
