PANJIM: In a bid to recover the missing file in the alleged forgery of occupancy certificate case, Panjim police have written to three government departments seeking to know if the documents were ever submitted by CCP councilor Uday Madkaikar.
The letter to Town & Country Planning Department seeks to know if Madkaikar had put up a plan of the building while Electricity and Public Works Departments have been requested to share information if at all the councilor submitted the allegedly fake occupancy certificate. “We have sent letters to the TCP, Electricity and PWD, and are awaiting a reply from the departments,” PI Siddhant Shirodkar said.
Meanwhile, Madkaikar has enclosed documents of the building to Panjim police which are being scrutinised, Shirodkar confirmed.
The police team had last week raided the offices of the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) in connection with the case. Madkaikar and Geeta Madkaikar are amongst many others under the scanner.
Former CCP Commissioner Melvyn Vaz had filed a complaint with Panjim police after an occupancy certificate was issued to Geeta whose power of attorney was with Uday.
In the complaint he stated, “The documents of occupancy given to Geeta Madkaikar were fraud, forged and got up ones.” He added that he had declined to grant occupancy to Geeta. Vaz also alleged the involvement of a dealing hand from CCP in the offence.
