Core panel to supervise treatment for Swine flu

PANJIM, AUG 6 A core committee has been constituted by the government on Thursday to monitor and supervise treatment of swine flu.

A core committee has been constituted by the government on Thursday to monitor and supervise treatment of swine flu.
Headed by Secretary Health S K Srivastava who is also the chief secretary, the core committee consists of 11 members. They are Dr V N Jindal (GMC dean), Dr Virendra Gaonkar (pediatrician, Campal Clinic, Panjim),  Dr N G Dubhashi (Prof & Head, Medicine dept, GMC), Dr Anar Khandeparkar (Associate Prof, Medicine, GMC) , Dr Rachita Gupta Velho (Asst Prof, Medicine Dept, GMC), Dr Jagdish A Cacodcar (Associate Prof, Prevention & Social Medicine, GMC),  Dr Sanjeev Dalvi (Deputy Director cum Medical Superintendent, Asilo, Mapusa),  Dr Ruando E J J Desa (Deputy Director-cum-Medical Superintendent, Hospicio Hospital, Margao) and Dr Savio Rodrigues (Prof & Head, Dept of Microbiology, GMC). The director of Health Services Dr Rajananda Dessai is the Member Secretary. 
The core committee will also prescribe measures to control swine flu, according to the order issued by Joint Secretary Health Dattaram G Sardesai.
Meanwhile, 219 international passengers were screened on Thursday at the passenger screening post at the arrival lounge of Dabolim airport. The total number of passengers screened at the airport till date is 15,404.
Throat swab of 2 suspected cases are collected and are being dispatched to NICD, Delhi. The two persons include a 44-year-old female who has travelled from Dubai to Mumbai and arrived in Goa on August 3, 2009 and a 50-year-old male who travelled from Dubai and arrived in Goa on August 6, 2009.
