Call traced to a coin box in Pune

MARGAO: In a development that has evoked protests and condemnation from the Association, an unknown caller has threatened to eliminate the President of Aquem Ground Bachao Association if he continues to lead the ongoing stir against the housing project on Costa ground.
Margao police has registered an offence against unknown persons and have traced the call to a coin box centre at Pune. The Association has now demanded that the police book the concerned persons for conspiracy and withdrawal of arms license issued to these persons.
Addressing the media, Chairman of the Committee Naveen Raikar said that Aquemkars are aware who has hired the miscreants to issue threats in order to subdue the people fighting against the construction project. “As per the advice of the Chief Minister, we had maintained peace at Aquem and are waiting for the government to work out a solution. But now this threatening call,” Raikar said.
Margao Municipal Councillor Avinash Shirodkar said that Aquemkars will not keep quiet if any member of the Association is threatened or harmed by the anti-social elements. “Let it be very clear to those pushing the construction project on Costa ground that Aquemkars will not keep quiet if the ground is forcibly taken away,” Avinash warned.
