Court grants Sabaji Shetye bail, govt suspends him

PANJIM: Additional Collector (North-I) Sabaji Shetye, who is in police custody was granted conditional bail by the Special Court on Monday, incidentally on the day when his five day custody ended. He was, however, suspended by an order issued by Vigilance Department, the same day.

While the detailed bail order was not released till late last evening, Judge Irshad Aga, in the verbal order, granted Shetye bail on a personal bond of Rs one lakh and a surety of like amount. 
He has been asked not to tamper with evidence, not to influence witness and appear before the investigating officer whenever summoned.
Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) had arrested Shetye in a trap laid at his office following a complaint of corruption. He was caught after accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 to issue no objection certificate for explosive storage licenses, last week.
