MARGAO: The Salcete Taluka police while intensifying their drive to penalise locals and visitors violating the COVID-19 protocols and not wearing face masks booked a total number of 26,473 cases in 2021 and collected fines from them.
According to the information available from police, out of 26,473, in all 8,135 cases were booked by Margao Police, 6,446 by Fatorda Police while 4,635 by Cuncolim Police. Maina-Curtorim Police booked 3,068 cases and collected fines while Colva Police booked 4,189 cases in the coastal belt and collected fines from the defaulters.
The Colva Police intensified their drive to penalise visitors violating the COVID-19 protocols and not wearing face masks on the beaches as the coastal State was witnessing crowd on its beaches, especially during the weekends.
