CAVELOSSIM: Seafarers from the coastal villages of Cavelossim, Carmona, Orlim, Varca and surrounding villages of Assolna, Ambelim, etc, can now undergo their COVID tests at the recently launched ‘COVID Collection and Testing Centre’ at St Cruz Sports Complex, Cavelossim instead of travelling to Margao.
This centre is a pet project of the ‘Cavelossim COVID Warriors’ and was launched in association with Victor Hospitals, Margao on Monday morning.
Cavelossim COVID Warriors’ convenor Dixon Vaz informed the media that “This testing facility can be availed by the villagers of Cavelossim and surrounding villages such as Carmona, Orlim, Varca, Assolna, Ambelim, etc, instead of travelling to Margao. This testing facility is open from Monday to Saturday between 9 am and 12 noon with both Rapid Antigen and RT-PCR tests being conducted at this centre.”
Earlier, Sanjay Rodrigues of the Victor Hospitals, Margao marketing team also spoke. Rodrigues said, “This testing centre will conduct both RT PCR and Rapid Antigen tests with the test results being presented within 12- 24 hours with a bar code and QR Scan which is signed by the doctors which can be shown at any port or exit points that you require.”
Both Rodrigues and the Goa Seamen Association of India (GSAI) founder President Vaz urged the villagers to visit this centre manned by a team of medical professionals and avail the facilities as part of their battle against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
