Cow dies in tiger attack at Derode

VALPOI: Another tiger attack has killed a cow at Derode Village in Sattari on Friday night.
Ladko Jadhav, owner of the cow, immediately informed the Forest Department officials about the death of his animal. The Valpoi Veterinary Department doctors visited the site and conducted a post-mortem of the cow.
The cow owner Ladko Jadhav told Herald that when his animal didn’t return home on Friday night, he went to the forest in search it on Saturday morning.
He found his cow dead and saw the paw prints of a tiger which made him realise that his cow was killed by a big cat. Ladko said his cow was pregnant.
Investigations are being conducted after into the deaths of the tigers and cubs at Golavali.
Five villagers from the Dhangar community, all belonging to one family, have been arrested by the Forest Department officials. The arrested villagers claimed that they are being harassed by the investigating officers.
Environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar has demanded that the Government declare the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary as a Tiger reserve. As per the camera trap technique, presence of five tigers has been ascertained in the wildlife.
