Create awareness, avoid confusion about bus route changes: Margao locals to KTC

MARGAO: The government’s plan to shift bus service operations from the KTC Bus Stand in Margao, in preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, has raised serious concerns among citizens and political leaders. The public is urging authorities to ensure necessary awareness and prevent confusion among passengers, emphasising that the existing system should not be disrupted abruptly.

Margao’s KTC bus stand is undergoing renovations as it is the venue for the PM’s public meet next month , and will be closed for nearly eight days. Public transport services will be relocated to the SAG ground next to the turf football ground at Fatorda, with inter-State bus service operations already shifted to the SGPDA ground.

Roque Fernandes, a concerned citizen, stressed the importance of creating awareness among the public, especially regular bus service users. “Passengers will get confused if the required awareness is not done on time,” he stated.

Some locals alleged that the government is taking the people for granted only to provide better service to the PM, Similarly, citizen Rohan Borkar, who uses public bus services, acknowledged the need for bus stand renovation but questioned the timing of the works. “The government needs to seriously consider the hardships faced by the public at the bus stand in Margao,” he emphasised.
