2 minors raped, two abducted

MARGAO/PANJIM: Four different cases pertaining to rape and abduction of minor girls were reported on Wednesday, as crimes against women have continued to shock the State.
While two cases of rape were reported at Salcete, two minor girls were reportedly kidnapped at Cumbharjua and Chimbel.
In the first case, the mother of a 16-year-old girl lodged a complaint that a boy from Benaulim had befriended her daughter and had allegedly raped her in a hotel.
The incident is said to have occurred on July 7 and it was only when the girl complained of pain that the mother suspected foul play. It was only when the mother questioned her daughter that she learned that her daughter had gone with the accused to the hotel, where she felt dazed and was later allegedly raped by the accused.
An offence under section 376 IPC and under the Goa Children Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act has been registered against the accused. Police Inspector, Rupa Naik is investigating the case.
In the second case, Colva police late Tuesday arrested Andrean Fernandes of Sinquetim-Navelim in connection with the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl.
The girl’s mother on Tuesday filed a complaint alleging that the accused had allegedly raped her minor daughter after befriending her in December 2012 near a starred hotel at Benaulim. The victim who is five months pregnant is presently in the custody of an NGO.
The accused was produced before JMFC at Margao and has been remanded to three days police custody.
In the third case, a resident of Canacona has been accused of kidnapping a minor girl at Cumbharjua on Tuesday. According to Old Goa Police, the girl’s mother complained that the accused had enticed her daughter and had kidnapped her. Old Goa Police have registered the case under Section 363 IPC & Section 8 of Children Act. PSI R N Shirodkar is investigating the case.
The fourth case was registered at the Panjim police station, when a 17-year-old girl is reported to have been kidnapped and a brother-sister duo has been accused in the crime.
The victim’s brother lodged a complaint alleging that the siblings, both residents of Chimbel, had kidnapped the minor early Wednesday morning. The police have launched a search to trace the victim and the accused.
