PANJIM: Days after stating that he would initiate action if any irregularities are found in the department, PWD Minister Dipak Pauskar said he has come across various files where despite payments being made no work has been carried out.
Speaking to media persons after reviewing the National Highway works in the State, Pauskar blamed former PWD Minister Ramkrishan (Sudin) Dhavalikar for the mess created on the national highway. “I have come across various irregularities in PWD and once the code of conduct is over we will initiate action,” Pauskar said.
Explaining further, the minister said that in the last month that he has taken over the department he has come across various files from Marcaim constituency.
“There are various files for saving houses by constructing retaining walls in Marcaim constituency. However, when we did physical inspection we have found no work done,” Pauskar said, adding, “This was unofficial inspection. Once code of conduct is over we will do an official inspection.”
Pauskar further charged that payments for all these retaining works worth crores have already been made. “On June 1, we will meet and hold an official meeting and also speak to CM on further course of action,” he said.
He said Marcaim is just one example and there are many such places where payments are made but no works done.
Pauskar also said he has directed the contractor and the PWD officials that there sould be no potholes to be seen on the NH66 before the monsoons.
“The NH66 work will continue till 2020 as it has been delayed due to land acquisition at many places and being under litigation,” he said.
Pauskar said he has directed officials that atleast places where there aren’t any issues be completed before June.
He said the issues of litigations and protests in North Goa over a temple and chapel are on the verge of being settled.
