Cultural institutions urged to promote local artistes

Stating that there are plenty of good artistes in Goa, who by sheer hard work acquired proficiency in their art, Deputy Director of Directorate of Art and Culture Ashok Parab said local cultural institutions should promote these artistes through their Sangeet Sammelans.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the 4th Manohar Madgaonker Vadhya Sangeet Sammelan organized by Camroon Creations in association with the Directorate of Art and Culture at Uskai-Paliem in Saturday.
“In most of the Sangeet Sammelans that are held in Goa, professional artistes from neighbouring states are invited to participate,” said Parab.
“In Sangeet Sammelan, it has been observed that stress is given on vocal music rather than instrumental music. Hence the Cameroon Creations deserves special complements for organizing this unique ‘Vadhya Sangeet sammmelan’ and also encouraging the local artistes,” said Parab.
Saligao MLA Dilip Parulekar said the basic aim of the cultural institution who organizes the Sangeet Sammelan should be to promote young and upcoming talents.
“There is no harm in inviting professional classical singers to participate in the Sangeet Sammelans, but at the same time they should offer an opportunity for the budding local artistes to showcase their talents,” said Parulekar.
Pandit Vasantrao Kudnekar stated that there is no short cut to learn classical music.
