MARGAO: Cuncolim locals on Thursday demanded that all permissions and clearances given for the alleged hill cutting should be revoked immediately.
“An FIR should be registered against the developer, besides disciplinary action should be taken against the officers of Town and Country Planning and Cuncolim Municipal Council,” the locals claimed.
The locals have also decided to knock the doors of judiciary if the concerned authorities failed to act.
Dr Jorson Fernandes, along with Adv Tarun Rebello, Kabir Moraes and others alleged that the fabrication of documents by the developers and concerned authorities. “The officers of TCP and Cuncolim Municipality have acted beyond their scope of granting licences/permissions, and for the alleged fraud played. And hence appropriate criminal action to be taken in case of any concocted or bought up records by the officers,” Dr Jorson said.
He said that the hill cutting activity is being done referring to the illegal, fabricated, and false technical clearance granted by the TCP, South Goa and CMC on the pretext that the hilly land is flat and vacant.
“It may be noted that the authorities based on their whims and fancies have granted permissions for development in ecologically sensitive properties,” he stated.
Dr Jorson further alleged that the TCP has granted technical clearance without inspecting the site which leads one to conclude that someone may have indulged in corrupt practices.
