MARGAO: Fatorda police have registered a case against one Agnelo Coutinho of Cuncolim for forging power of attorney and selling the property to a third party.
Police based on the complaint lodged by Oswald Rebello of Cuncolim have registered an offence under Section 465,468, 471, 420 read with 34 of IPC, for committing forgery, cheating and fraudulently or dishonestly using as genuine any document or electronic record which he knows or has reason to believe to be a forged.
According to complainant Oswald since March 2018, alleged accused person Agnelo (48) prepared a forged power of attorney of his mother and further sold the property under survey number 46414, 46415 and 46422 of the Cuncolim village belonging to his mother to the third party by producing the said power of attorney before Civil-Cum-Sub Registration Office Salcete.
Police said that the alleged accused cheated the complainant and investigation into the case has started.
Relevant documents will be checked and the person involved in the case will be arrested, the police added.
