MARGAO: In a tragic end, a minor who was the victim of an alleged rape, ended her life at her residence at Cuncolim late on Thursday evening.
The 17-year-old girl was found hanging from a ceiling fan.
Margao Sub Divisional Police Officer, DySP Mohan Naik said that the victim girl and the boy from Velim had gone missing in December last year. He said the duo was traced in Karnataka and brought to Goa on January 9. The accused boy was arrested on charges of kidnapping and statutory rape since the girl was a minor and is in judicial lock-up. Asked to shed light on the incident, DySP Mohan said the police have taken into custody a number of notes left behind by the victim girl, indicating a love relationship between her and the accused boy. “The police are examining the notes left behind by the girl,” he said.
The Cuncolim police have registered a case of unnatural death and is investigating.
