CUNCOLIM: Three doctors– Dr Jorson Fernandes a ENT Specialist, Dr Brennon Tavares an Obstetrician and Gynecologist and third is head of ESI Hospital, Margao and a Orthopedic surgeon Dr Vishwajit Fal Dessai—emerged to be the most revered Samaritans who gave all hearts to save COVID patients and contain the pandemic in Cuncolim with their relentless in hospital and educating people spreading awareness for fourteen months since the emergence of the Coranavirus infection in the State.
They have their life, they have their families they have their career but they believe to serve for cause and they believe their expertise are needed in the most critical situation so putting their life on risk this three brave Cuncolkar doctors who are now know as heroes of the Goa are working day and night to serve the COVID patients.
DR JORSON FERNANDES
Dr Jorson Fernandes is not a government doctor nor associated with any medical organisation but looking at pandemic terror Dr Jorson went out of his way to fight the pandemic. He is a real front line warrior, who is on the field for last fourteen months right from the day COVID broke out in Goa. Beyond treatment he spread a lot of awareness on Coronairus; teaching students, parents, teachers, and general public, even health workers and Municipal garbage collection workers how to protect themselves from COVID and at the same time to stop spreading the infection with do’s and don’ts around COVID, conducting hundred odd sessions on COVID Awareness Programme (CAP) across Goa. There are many myths and misunderstanding about the COVID among general public he is striving to break those non-rationale myths. Dr Jorson, who is closely associated with Rotary International Organisation went from Cuncolim to Canacona and from Vasco to Sanguem to make people aware about Coronavirus and the consequences of its infection. He also trained healthcare workers, police personnel, administrative officers and other government employees to manage stress and also to fight effectively to COVID pandemic. He is regular to local Health Centre and has shown his willingness to extend all possible support to proposed COVID Care Centre at Cuncolim.
DR BRENNON TAVARES
Dr Brennon Tavares is also doing a wonderful job in this deadly pandemic. This Gynecologist went out of the way to help those COVID patients, who come from less privileged and marginalized families. Dr Tavares, a native of Cuncolim, now settled in Margao does full justice to his profession. Dr Tavares is a gynecologist but he did not restrict himself to his hospital, but went out of his way to help COVID patient as a social responsibility. He is main consultant at Pedro Arrupe Institute COVID Care Centre at Raia where he is treating patients for free. The centre is providing all facilities including food and medical consultation.

When the COVID pandemic broke out in Goa last year Goa government had set up first COVID hospital in Margao inside ESI hospital under the leadership of Dr. Vishwajit Phal Dessai. Since then, for last fourteen months Dr Vishwajit is dedicatedly lending his services to COVID patients. This young doctor is originally from Balli, which falls in Cuncolim Constituency. He is working day in day out for COVID patients in ESI hospital. He is the most sought after doctor to the patients admitted to ESI hospital. Thousands of patients from last fourteen months have been admitted in ESI hospital. Many may criticise government for mismanagement in COVID pandemic but none can forget the relentless service rendered by the young and old doctors by putting their life into risk. Dr. Vishwajit is like a masiha for COVID patients and their families.
