MARGAO: The Parents Teachers Association of Our Lady of Perpetual School, Curchorem submitted memorandum to Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral demanding the dissolution of the Medium of Instruction (MoI) committee constituted by the government. The PTA also demanded grants for English medium schools.
Claiming that some people are diverting the public’s attention on the MoI issue, Cabral called upon the PTA members not to pay attention to such people.
The MLA further claimed that the Government never said that it will stop grants to English Medium schools.
“The Government is giving grants to English medium schools along with other schools,” he added.
Over 200 parents from Curchorem assembled at Cabral’s office and demanded that the committee constituted by the Government is not acceptable to the parents and demanded immediate its dissolution.
“I am ready to resign as MLA if the problem is not solved. But I feel that the people have to understand the situation,” Cabral said.
“My personal view is that parents should be vested with the power to decide on where their children should study and there should not be any political interference,” Cabral said.
