PANJIM: Curlies Restaurant and Night Club at Anjuna, has given an undertaking to Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPC) to stop operations of the restaurant till they obtain the NOC from the Anjuna-Caisua panchayat for the year 2015-16.
Curlies owner Linet Nunes also said in the undertaking that operations will be stopped till the time they obtain orders from the appropriate forum.
GPSCB in September had directed Curlies to stop operations immediately, however, the order was challenged in the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
GPSCB had revoked the Consent to Operate granted under The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and The Air Act, 1981 to the restaurant.
NGT had asked GSPCB to revisit the consent given to the shack after social activist Kashinath Shetye had filed a petition against the consent, claiming that the restaurant does not have a valid no objection certificate (NOC) to seek consent under the acts.
The board, during its hearing, observed that the NOC provided by the shack for obtaining the consent was invalid.
