PONDA: Curti Sarpanch Dadi Naik along with local Panch Gurudas Khedekar and Panchayat secretary, on Monday, inspected six illegal houses constructed by destroying and levelling the hills at Zingadimal Curti after locals complained to the panchayat.
During the inspection, Curti locals demanded that the said houses are built by cutting hills which are in the No Development Zone. The locals demanded action on these six illegal houses constructed by levelling hills.
Locals said the 900 mm and 700 mm diameter pipelines supplying water to Tiswadi and Ponda are passing from these hills. Despite these, some migrants encroached and constructed houses on some of these pipelines passing over hills. Locals Sandeep Parkar, Rocky Dias questioned how these structures are coming up in this zone.
“If Goans construct illegal houses then immediately they are demolished but migrants are seen cutting hills for house construction and authorities are providing light and electricity connections,” the locals alleged.
