Curtorim MLA slams Cong for ignoring him

MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco slammed his own party for ignoring him during the selection of candidates for the ZP elections.

“Despite the fact that I have followed all the dictates of Congress, they haven’t felt the need to connect with me before finalising the ZP candidates. The block president suggested names without consulting me. We share good relations with each other but he does this,” said Lourenco, who added that this is not the first time the party has insulted him.

“I have been consistently with Congress right from 2012 till date. I have even gone to Delhi and told our then party president Rahul Gandhi what needs to be done in Goa, which they have not paid attention to,” he lamented further.

He also alleged that leaders of the party are waiting to ‘pin him down’ while giving the examples about their actions against him. “This is our leadership where they point fingers at me but are so undisciplined themselves, “Reginaldo added, while labeling some of them of being ‘very personal’.

However, he clarified that he is with the Congress and added that “it’s a good party, with the exception of some leaders though, who do not speak against the ruling BJP, not even by mistake.”

“Only I fought against the BJP and the ruling dispensation when (late) Manohar Parrikar was the then Chief Minister. Now, I have not been given a position but I will remain with Congress and campaign for them” he added.
