MARGAO: Shocked to discover that there was an attempt to erect a
mobile tower in the vicinity of the Curtorim lake, despite an objection being filed by the Biodiversity Managing Committee (BMC), villagers on Monday forced the service provider to stop work immediately..

On seeing the service provider entering the area with huge machinery to install the tower, locals rushed to the
area and stopped them from doing so.
Police were rushed
to the site in order to maintain law and order but had to hear a earful from villagers who
were in no mood to
calm down.
“The Biodiversity Management Committee had filed objections to the erection of the tower in the vicinity of the
Curtorim lake as it would be an environmental disaster but we were shocked to see machinery at the site all set to install the tower,” said Anthony Pixeito.
He further alleged that the local political leaders were taking the
people for a ride.
“We don’t understand why the mobile tower is being forced upon the people and that too in the vicinity of the lake. Earlier, they had attempted to erect the tower in the vicinity of the school premises,” said Pexeito.
He further said that they will not allow the mobile service provider to erect the tower here and all will stand united in opposing the same.
