MARGAO: Konkan Development Society ChildLine South Goa, hosted a cycle rally based on the theme ‘Child Rights, Champions Ride’ to commemorate the International Day for Child Rights.
The rally began at 6 am with the flag off conducted by Fr Leo Pereira, SDB, at Don Bosco, Fatorda. The rally then made its way through Manora, Nuvem, Verna, Cansaulim, Utorda, Betalbatim, Seraulim and back to Don Bosco, Fatorda.
A total of 30 kms were covered during the rally. The purpose was to create awareness that children have rights and that they need to be protected and respected.
The total number of participants were 130 including child riders as well. The event was a grand success in spreading awareness towards every child and their rights.
Blaise Costabir, executive member of Xaxti Riders and businessman was the chief guest for the event and he spoke a few words on occasion too.
Fr Francis Silveira, SDB, and Fr George Quadros, SDB, were also present for the programme. The programme ended with a felicitation ceremony where the riders were provided with medals and certificates.
