PANJIM: With a little over 100 new COVID-19 infections across Goa on Monday, the daily cases in the State dropped to the lowest level seen in over three months, underlining the State’s controlled situation after the brutal second wave of viral outbreak. The daily positivity rate also came down to below 6 per cent.
On Monday, 138 new infections were reported across the State, which is the lowest since March 29, when 128 cases were reported in a day. However, from April, there was a sudden surge in the daily cases, with crossed thousand mark per day by mid-April. The month of May turned out deadliest with over 62,000 cases and nearly 1400 deaths.

The positivity rate also dropped to the lowest- 5.54 per cent- so far.
The second wave of the pandemic has now seen a steady drop with new daily cases fluctuating below 250 for last couple of days, so also the mortality figure remained below ten.
As on date, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 caseload stands at 1,66,236.
With recovery of 326 patients, the total active patients are 2,316. The State’s recovery rate currently is 96.77 per cent.
The health centers like Ponda, Sanquelim, Margao, Candolim, Canacona and Panjim have active cases above hundred.
Mayem and Navelim health centres have got lowest 20 active cases.
A State-wide curfew, imposed since June 9, is currently in force till July 5, 7 am. The government, however, has eased several restrictions, in phased manner.
The COVID-19 related mortalities has also shown improvement and remained below 10 for last few days. On Monday, seven more succumbed to the infection, taking the tally to 3,046.
