A 48-year-old man was arrested by Bicholim police for allegedly murdering a woman following a quarrel at Churchwada, Bicholim. The accused, identified as Ramesh, a resident of Lakherem, Bordem, reportedly got into an argument with the victim, Laxmi Shirodkar (51), who worked as a daily-wage labourer at the Bicholim market.
According to police records, the accused allegedly assaulted the woman by slapping her and striking her with an LED tubelight, causing injuries. The situation escalated further, and the woman was allegedly smothered to death inside the carriage of a Mahindra pickup vehicle parked outside a shop at Carlito Town Centre in Churchwada.

The incident occurred between December 25 and December 26. Police registered a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The accused was arrested on December 27.
