MARGAO: In order to keep strict vigil on the miscreants dumping garbage on the roadside resulting in major nuisance, the Village Panchayat of Davorlim-Dicarpale at the gram sabha held on Sunday resolved to install CCTV cameras at the identified black-spots.

The gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Herculano Niasso also passed other important resolutions at the meeting including cracking a whip on encroachments on the land owned by Communidade and Water Resources Department (WRD) in the village.
The villagers also discussed some important issues such as the proposed Jetty Policy 2022 and double tracking, but no resolution was passed on the matters.
The Sarpanch informed Herald that the gram sabha members raised the issue pertaining to the garbage dumping on the roadside, causing major nuisance in the village.
“Gram sabha members have resolved to take this issue seriously and hence it has been decided to install CCTV cameras at all the identified black-spots. Panchayat will also install CCTV cameras in every ward so that such type of nuisance is stopped,” said Niasso.
He said that the gram sabha members also pointed out the issue pertaining to illegal structures and encroachments on the land owned by Communidade, besides WRD.
“Panchayat had deliberated on the issue with regard to encroachments on WRD land in the jurisdiction of the village panchayat earlier and demolition too was initiated. Now, again we will start the process,” the Sarpanch informed.
Gram sabha has also resolved to request the WRD to hand over the land to the panchayat for the projects which will benefit the villagers.
The issue pertaining to double tracking was also raised by some of the gram sabha members, as resolution opposing the same was also passed during the last tenure of the panchayat body, Niasso informed.
It has also been resolved to initiate programmes to help the farming community of the village. During the meeting several committees including Village Development Committee and Biodiversity Managing Committee were constituted.
