Davorlim sarpanch flays damage to spring

The Sarpanch of Davorlim along with residents has taken strong exception to the damage caused to the age old spring in the village.
The Sarpanch Francis Dias claimed that some engineers and the contractor came to the site on Monday and deployed machiney to clean the spring. IN the process, however, the embankment of the spring was left damaged, he said.
He along with the residents demanded to know why the clean up work was not carried out with proper planning by the concerned agency. “When we came to the spot, the contractor and the engineer left the site with the heavy machinery”, he said.
Another resident Anand Sawant said the government should immediate build the embankment or warned that the people will not spare the engineers involved in causing the damage. “No one has the right to damage the embankment. This is our traditional spring which helped irrigate the nearby fields and was also used for Ganesh immersion”, he said, while calling upon the authorities to repair and build the wall immediately before taking up the cleaning work.
