days after escape, police search for fugitives in Kalay

Curchorem Police on Wednesday conducted combing operation in Kalay to search the escaped jailbirds Hitler Fernandes and Seby Ferrao, who are still at large.
Given the arrest of Abhijit Patil from an abandoned house in the heart of Kalay village, the men-in-uniform are trying all possible ways to trace the whereabouts of the other two jailbirds, who police doubt to be still hiding in remote Kalay.
Sources informed that late Wednesday evening, the policemen searched the nearby jungle areas to search for the duo, but to no avail.
Earlier on August 10, the policemen had brought Abhijit Patil to Kalay for investigation. During the course of investigation, Patil was taken to various places which he and Seby had visited during their stay in the village after escaping from Sada Jail.
Patil led the police to a restaurant in Kalay, where they had ordered food after their arrival in the village.
Sources however informed that police could not get much information from the restaurant owner, as he did not recognize the duo.
“Given the number of customers visiting the hotel on daily basis, it is difficult to concentrate as to who enters and leaves the hotel, the hotel owner reportedly told the men in uniform,” informed a village.
It may be recalled that police after getting vital information from a source had raided the abandoned house, where Seby and Abhijit were hiding, leading to the arrest of Abhijit, while Seby, who was also hiding in the same house, gave the police a slip.
Since then the policemen are virtually on a hunt to trace Seby Ferrao, who the policemen still have doubt of hiding in the village.
