Death Certificate done away with for COVID financial scheme

PANJIM: The State government on Wednesday announced that it has done away with the mandatory requirement for families of COVID victims to produce a death certificate when they apply for the ex-gratia financial assistance scheme.

“It has come to the notice that the applicants applying for financial assistance under the scheme are getting hardship for obtaining a death certificate from the concerned hospital. It has, therefore, been decided to accept the applications, from the concerned applicants without insisting for the COVID death certificate as the Department

concerned is alternatively confirming about the reason of death from the Directorate of Health Services,” says the statement issued by the government.

The applicant has to submit a medical certificate in the prescribed proforma issued by the concerned hospitals where the victim expired due to COVID-19 and the medical report should have reference to the RTPCR/RAT report of any authorised lab of ICMR.

Directorate of Social Welfare is implementing the ex-gratia financial assistance scheme to families of victims of COVID-19 under which financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh is being given to the families.
