PANJIM: The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board headed by Minister Vijai Sardesai will meet on May 16, wherein a decision to exclude all ten villages from St Cruz and St Andre assembly constituencies from the jurisdiction of Greater Panjim Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA) is expected to be taken.
This is going to be the first meeting of the TCP Board after the anti-PDA and anti-Regional Plan 2021 protests last month.
The Board had last met on March 19 when it had constituted a sub-committee to go into the objections raised by the villages that were included in the GPPDA. The Board was supposed to meet on April 10 to take final call on the GPPDA, however, the meeting had been postponed.
As per the note issued by TCP, a meeting held on March 19, had to be adjourned as some of the agenda needed more deliberation. The same will continue on May 16.
Sardesai had on March 31 announced that all 10 villages from St Cruz and St Andre constituencies would be dropped from the jurisdiction of the GPPDA, and that the local MLAs had misled him on the fact that villagers wanted their villages under planning. He had even assured to remove the Kadamba plateau from GPPDA if there is opposition to it inclusion.
At the last Board meeting, it was resolved to formulate special guidelines for rain water harvesting, which would be made mandatory for big projects before their being granted completion certificates. The guidelines are expected to be placed before the Board during the forthcoming meeting.
